Leamington District Memorial Hospital has embarked on a new strategic planning process. The process is aimed to define the role of LDMH in a new “Integrated Health System”. The hospital currently faces a number of challenges including:
- Shortage of healthcare professionals – doctors and nurses
- Financial challenges in the form of operational deficits.
- Declining volumes in some core programs and services
- Changing needs of the communities and our clients
- A changing health care system that is focused on accountability, efficiency and quality.
The goal of the strategic planning process is to define a role for Leamington Hospital that will be strong and sustainable over the next 5 to 10 years. A Steering Committee has been struck and is composed of representatives from the Board, Medical Staff, Senior Management and LHIN representatives. The Committee is currently meeting to discuss options, review data and develop a model of the role LDMH will play in the new Integrated Health System. Through this process the entire core services of the hospital from ER to Obstetrics to ICU to Surgery and all administrative, diagnostic and support departments, are currently being reviewed. We are planning programs and services from a regional perspective and trying to build sustainable services.
As information becomes available it will be posted for the information of the community on this section of the Web-Site.
